Principal’s Bio – Judi Richardson

Judi is a proven strategic thinker and results-driven executive with over 25 years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience.  She discovered the keys to competitive drive, discipline and goal setting as a member of Canada’s National Ski Team 1978 – 1980. Armed with a York University MBA and a top-five finish in her class, Judi moved from banking into marketing and has worked with several respected firms in progressively senior and strategic roles from account analyst to vice president marketing & business development.

Judi is the principal of Richardson Management Inc., a strategic business consulting company established in 1998 to assist organizations with the articulation and achievement of their vision.  The company’s diverse client list has spanned technology, service, retail, academia and consumer goods industries.  While consulting, Judi was involved in drafting the business plan which eventually resulted in KremeKo Inc. being awarded the exclusive rights to the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts brand in all Canadian provinces excluding B.C.

As KremeKo’s vice president marketing & business development, Judi spearheaded the record-breaking launch of the Krispy Kreme brand in Canada.  Brand awareness, trial and media coverage levels were unprecedented despite very little “traditional advertising”. She also championed KremeKo’s foray into Quebec.  The company was cited as one of two leading examples of stellar bilingual retail entries.  Judi successfully negotiated partnerships with wholesale channels and oversaw the fundraising arm of the business model through a team of enthusiastic marketers.

While there she built a field marketing team and system from scratch, spearheaded research projects, undertook an outside agency review and was very involved with her team in building community partnerships.  One such program with the Alberta Theatre Projects won the Financial Post award as ‘most innovative marketing sponsorship.’

Judi progressed through various positions at Nielsen Marketing Research and Scott Paper, later becoming marketing director for Dairyworld Foods, where she developed an integrated marketing plan with public relations, promotions and advertising agencies to launch a worldwide packaging prototype into the Canadian market.  The campaign won numerous North American Master Dairies awards.  While managing a team of marketers, Judi was also involved in strategic analysis to determine the viability of a potential acquisition.

Over several years during the 1990’s, Judi served as a director of the B.C. Chapter of the American Marketing Association. During this period, Judi was also successfully involved in volunteer fund-raising for B.C. Children’s Hospital as deputy chair and chair of the retail telethon committee.  Previously, Judi served on the advisory boards of 1800GOTJUNK, Jugo Juice and Nurse Next Door as well as the Board of Directors for, a Canadian charitable 12-week after school mentoring program.   Judi also volunteered on the North Star Montessori Board for five years and sat on the KremeKo Board on an interim basis.

Judi expanded her skills experience through the Institute of Corporate Directors "Directors Education Program" from which she earned certification as a director (ICD.D) in 2007.
